Decided to upgrade to OSX 10.5 last week, which ended unfortunately, screwing up. Install went perfectly fine but upon restarting, it just wouldn't fully load. Stuck with the rainbow spinning wheel. Yay for buggy Apple software. Ended up having to do a format + fresh install in order for it to work again. Lost a year or two's worth of work due to this, though it's my fault for not backing up before upgrading the OS. I thought I could trust Apple with something like this. Contemplated picking up a new *PC* laptop cause I'm sick of my crappy Apple experiences. After having a 4th gen iPod die a month or two out of warranty, as well as a 2nd gen iPod Nano die again, out of the one year warranty, this is becoming too much. Apple FTL.
But of course after loading up OSX 10.5 things change. It's just so nice looking. Hard to say no to it. Although the laptop IS getting old and slow, I suppose using it for a bit longer would be the financially responsible thing to do. I did look at a Sony NR series laptop that was on sale at Best Buy for $800, which was pretty nice looking, clean design, decently fast. Pretty good review here, though their laptop is spec'ed differently. Almost pulled the trigger, but ended up spending on that J's 50RS axle-back exhaust for the Fit. Oh well, perhaps later in the summer would be a better time to pick a new laptop up.
